This is your opportunity to run the original marathon route, following in those victorious steps.

Arrival Day
Today is an arrival day. Please make your own way to the start hotel located in the city centre. This afternoon, for anyone interested in joining, there will be a relaxed group run to the Panathenaic Stadium to shake out your legs for the big day.
Friday 10th November, 2023
Half Day City Tour & Expo
After breakfast at the hotel, we will depart for a guided half-day city tour including visits to the Acropolis and the iconic Parthenon. Our English-speaking guide will provide a historic and cultural overview of ancient and modern Greece. The tour will end at the race expo so you can collect your race kits. From here, the afternoon is yours to enjoy Athens in your own way before regrouping this evening for an evening reception and race briefing. (Breakfast & Reception inclued)
Saturday 11th November, 2023
Pre-race Dinner & Optional Cape Sounion Tour or 10K
Today is a free day for you to enjoy ancient Plaka however you choose. If you have opted to join the optional excursion to Cape Sounion on a half-day tour, you will depart this morning on the windy roads headed for the Temple of Poseidon followed by a three-course lunch at a local restaurant. The tour will take approximately 6 hours and must be booked and prepaid in advance.
If you are running the 10km, your race will take place today in the early afternoon/evening. We will walk you down to the start line from the hotel which just a short walk away.
An included dinner will be served at the hotel tonight for everyone.

Sunday 12th November, 2023
Race Day
After an early breakfast make use of the bus transportation provided by the race organizers to transfer to the race start. We will walk you to the buses to ensure a smooth start. After a momentous day on the marathon course, this evening is free to celebrate your achievement however you choose. A non-hosted celebration dinner at a local restaurant is an option for anyone wishing to venture to the Plaka area this evening (steps involved)!

Royal Olympic Hotel
The Royal Olympic Hotel is a family-run hotel, located beneath the shadow of Acropolis and just in front of the famous Temple of Zeus. This recently renovated 5-star property, is right next to picturesque “Plaka” (the Old Town), the Royal Gardens and the Ancient Stadium.
Enjoy the views from the hotel’s rooftop bar and restaurant serving traditional Greek dishes. The property also has a pool, fitness centre, library and a 24-hour reception. The luxurious rooms are clean and comfortable with modern amenities; such as a satellite TV, air-conditioning and marble en-suite bathrooms.

Event Information

Run The Original Marathon Route in Athens
The course starts in the village of Marathon and becomes hilly for the middle third of the distance, the last third is a gradual downhill before finishing inside the Panathenaic Stadium in Athens.
This is your opportunity to run the original marathon route with more than 43,000 runners and 80,000 spectators. The incredible city of Athens is a mecca of historical importance and the Athens Marathon gives you the opportunity to experience the wonder of the city in a truly unique and memorable way.
Race Start Time: 9:00 AM
Weather: Average temperatures range between 60F to 75F.
Course Time Limit: There is an eight (8) hour time limit.
Number Pickup: Each runner must pick up their own race packet at the Expo. Time has been allotted for this during the half-day city tour.
Eligibility: All runners must be at least 18 years of age on race day.
Awards: Every finisher will receive a medal, finisher certificate, sport-bag and commemorative t-shirt.
Difficulty: Difficult due to the hills. The last 10K is downhill, which is a relief to your legs!

Minimum age
To take part in the Marathon 42km, you must be at least 18 years old. To take part in the 10km or 5km you must be at least 12 years old.
How to book
To make your booking, make sure that you select the correct number of rooms and types for all members in your party plus all the required extras. When you book, we will require a deposit to confirm your place.
Payments
When you confirm your booking, we will take a deposit payment. Subsequent payments are taken automatically.
The cost of the event entry is non-refundable.

Starting Times and Bib Numbers
Although we are licensed to sell official entries for the 2023 Athens Marathon 42km, 10km, or 5km, we have no influence over the allocation of starting times and bib numbers.
Closer to the event we will ask for your expected pace and other details to complete the registration process for the Athens Marathon. The race organisers will allocate you a starting time and bib based on the information you provide.
